I just got in the game and this is my first experience with it so far. I was not in any of the previous beta events. That being said, we'll start at the graphics and make headway from there.
As far as graphics and optimization go, I'm quite pleased. So far the game runs much better than the game I used to play, Tera. I'm, for the most part, getting 30-50+ FPS on a 3.6 ghz quad core AMD FX 4100, 8 gigs of Corsair 1866 mhz ram and an nVidia GTX 750. There are a few times to where the blade and soul gold frame rate dips down below 20 but it's few and far between. When it does happen, simply tweaking the graphics fixes it for the most part. The game itself is beautiful and I love the music as well. I've always enjoyed eastern music and this game is no exception. The voice acting however, is utterly abysmal. The voices just don't seem to fit their character for the bns gold most part in some instances. A prime example was a Gon in the main questline that had a rather high pitched voice for what I was expecting. He didn't sound much like a giant as I would have expected, with a deep, booming voice but like your average joe. This misconception of what Gon sound like that is probably just something of my own making.
Moving along to the combat, I rather enjoy it. To be fair though, this game, in my opinion, is not a true action combat game. That is one area in which I feel Tera does actually beat it. This game is a fancy dressed up tab target game. The dodge and evade stat clearly show that it's a tab target behind the hood. It's closest competition is probably Skyforge. The game in essence, isn't a true action combat game like Dark Souls or Tera but rather a weird amalgamation of the two. That's not to say it's a bad game. I love the fact that combat is very, very fast paced. You can kill and be killed incredibly swiftly and the lack of any sort of radar-like minimap means that your awareness comes from your own skills rather than just glancing up at map every few seconds. If there is an option to show enemies on the map, I must've missed it. The reason I say it's not a "true" action based combat game is simply because of the fact that your skills can't necessarily miss in essence. In Tera, if a person is not in range of your swing, it does not hit. It's the same way with mobs. There are several instances to where mobs in this game can hit you even when you're clearly out of range of their strike. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as I've said, but does kind of make it limited as to what you can do. The good part is that, unlike Skyforge, BnS does this system much, much better. You have skills that have i-frames as well as skills for mobility among other things. That makes it fun and makes the system very enjoyable to play.
I blade and soul gold enjoyed playing ~12 hours (estimate, probably low - reached level 20) during the recent beta. I feel good about my pack purchase and look forward to playing the game at launch. The game looks great, and I enjoy the complex combat.
That said, I wanted to provide some feedback from the perspective of someone not deeply steeped in MMOs. I played a little bit of City of Heroes back in the day, and ~60 levels in WOW. Coming to bns gold this game turned out to be more confusing than I expected. Not to PLAY, mind you - that was fine. In fact, my feedback to the in game surveys was "too easy" for the PVE portions. But to actually understand what was going on? Here are a few examples of questions I asked myself:
The Economy
Just how many currencies are there in this game? And how the heck do they interact? Blade And Soul Gold-Silver-Copper was fine, of course. (But strangely useless - see below) NCoins were pretty clear. But then we had Red Beans, Hongmoon Coins and Premium Points. That was less clear and required tracking down things to read and watch online.
Since I can't call the client up at the moment (Beta weekend is over), I may make mistakes in terminology here. There are what I thought of as pseudo-currencies - valor stones (of various types), Tokens (which you use in combination with other items to make Hongmoon Coins?), and I think a few other things which had no use in and of themselves, but were only used to exchange for other items. So they're pseudo-currencies.
To make matters more confusing, these are used in entirely different locations for different purposes. A few highlights:
I care less about the confusion (though it matters) than the fun. It was not fun to be unable to purchase even a single sticky bun, soup, or healing potion (wrong term, I know) until I had over 5 silver at something like level 10. It would have taken my whole bankroll. Yes, healing wasn't an issue so I didn't need to buy any, but it felt ridiculous that stores were utterly useless.
In general, finding so many things I couldn't buy was just bewildering at first. I need Five THOUSAND red beans to buy "something!?" I don't have ANY. I don't even know how you get them! Why is this store even in the early level area? (Yes, I figured it out over time, but the amount of reading/watching to figure all this out amounted to almost as many hours as I spent playing.
Strike from the shadows in this weeks class overview.
In our blade and soul gold ongoing series we focus every other week on a Blade & Soul class. This week the Assassin has emerged to stand revealed in our overview.
Check out our updated class page on the Assassin, where weve added some wallpapers, a class introductory video, and a page from the Hongmoon Secret Tome. Youll want to join us on the official Blade & Soul Twitch channel December 3 at 10am PST to watch us play the Assassin, and also be sure to check out Twitch streamer MrHappy1227 on December 2 at 9am PST as he shows off his own take on the class.
The Assassin Overview
;
The Assassin is a complex class that excels when they have the freedom and time to set up their attack, and can be defined by their strategic approach to combat.
Calculating and precise, Assassins need to be in the right position and have the right skill chains set bns gold up in order to ensure their opponent doesnt have the ability to respond to the Assassins lightning-quick attacks. Unlike other classes that can get away with fumbling through some clumsy skill applications and still do some damage, the Assassins movements and skills are fluidas sharp as the dagger they wieldand can seamlessly move from attack to attack.
Assassins are masters of confusion and disorientation. Their typical opening move leaves their targets clutching their heads in bewilderment, as theyre inexplicably struck by an invisible force. If theyre alive long enough to regain their wits, it means the Assassin has graciously decided to hold off on their devastating follow-through, and chances are theyve already disappeared again.
Similar to a Blade Master, Assassin skill availability is dependent on their stance: Stealth stance keeps the Assassin hidden from view, allowing them to deal massive amounts of damage on the unsuspecting. Decoy Stance provides a versatile toolkit for the Assassin, including bombs and other abilities that stun, daze and knock down, as well as their Counter: a visually striking ability that prevents damage and puts them back into Stealth Mode.
The Assassin in Play
The Assassin focuses on dealing two types of damage: Lightning and Void. Not all skills will have an associated elemental damage, but those that do will have their damage increased with the selection of the right items; building a focus around these damage types is advantageous in the long run, especially as you get to the end-game dungeons.
For party play, the Assassin takes on the role of a strong damage dealer, able to easily handle the weaker one-off enemies, or work in concert with the Kung Fu Master or Blade Master to whittle down a Boss Monsters health. The Assassin must be careful to manage their threat, as attracting the attention (and damage) of enemies can leave the Assassin struggling to remain alive, and greatly reduce their effectiveness.
(buy cheap Fifa coins) All eyes will yet again be fixed on Martin Odegaard. The 16-year-old turned into a superstar overnight, not particularly for his football talent, but following the news that he would be receiving 80,000 per WEEK for the chore of training alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of the Madrid squad while lining up for Zinedine Zidanes youth side. Its a hard life. FIFA 16 arrives for Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC - but not all the features will transfer to the older consoles, so that is something to keep in mind before you buy the new FIFA game.
During the reign of PlayStation 2 and the original XBox there was a clear conflict between Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA. Overall PES was the better game and was applauded by critics and fans alike. During the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, FIFA absolutely annihilated PES in sales, fans opinion and critics reception. I would argue that this wasnt because FIFA was a better game, instead PES just got worse. FIFA 16 is FIFA 16, and FIFA 15 is FIFA 15. Dont expect to score like you used to. The games are different. The goalkeepers artificial intelligence has been improved and (click here to buy fifa 16 coins) now they tend to save shots more than ever. Face that as a challenge. Youll have to find new ways to score.
If you dont put that in mind, youll keep watching your shots being saved and youll blame the super goalkeepers for your misery. Youre the one who must adapt. Experiment, practice and in a short period of time youll realise scoring isnt that hard. Scoring goals in FIFA 16 is not difficult, but knowing when to shoot and which shot to attempt does take practice. Putting too much power on a close range shot will only result in laughs from your mates, while not positioning your shot makes it significantly easier for the keeper to stop it. Dont freak out. We have some pointers to help you reach the back of the net.
To help you on the pitch, we have produced this short video that highlights the various shot types you can perform in FIFA 16 and how to execute each one correctly. While on offense with the ball at your players feet, you need to have a defender on you jockeying for the ball. You need to (go to buy fifa16coins) wait for him to put a hand on you, either grabbing your shoulder or pulling at the bottom of your jersey. While this is going on, if you hit the lob pass/slide tackle button, there is a good chance your guy will go down and an even better chance itll appear to be a foul in the refs eyes. There is no magic cheat that gets you a goal. You have to earn it or hope your opponent makes a huge mistake.
To have the best chance of your shot going where you want your player needs to be ready to shoot and moving a little slower in FIFA 16. Its (click here to buy fifa 16 coins) just like real life you cant shoot as well if off balance, facing wrong direction or being hassled etc. With driven shots using weaker foot isnt usually as bad as when trying to finesse. More on finesse in the next section. Try to steady your player before shooting by tapping left trigger (LT or L2) on its own just before shooting. If being hassled when running a tap of the right bumper on its own will stop your player instantly and face goal. Then you can get your shot away as the defender continues running. If running at pace hit shoot button while the ball is a little bit in front of your player. For higher accuracy and control try to move the ball to the side of the players stronger foot and nudge it into a little bit of space ahead.
The first step in FIFA 16 is quite possibly the most important one of them all, you seriously need to identify who can actually pull off long shots and who cant. Theres a real easy way of gaining this information and that leads us onto step 2. Use your substitutes: When you're in the middle of a tense online game, it can be easy to forget about the guys on your bench. Your playmakers will eventually get tired though, and their performance will begin to decline. Sometimes the best way to get a crucial goal when you need it is to have a trump card stashed on the bench who can come in at just the right moment.
This (go to buy fifa16coins) should be common sense, but you still come across players who feel the need to actually make a tackle every time they are close to the opponent. X/Square is slide tackle, and B/Circle is standing tackle, but you don't need to use either of these buttons to win the ball back. Instead, A/X should be used to contain the man with the ball, and then it all becomes about positioning. Advanced FIFA 16 players will use RB/R1 to send a second player to pressure the ball, while manually positioning a defender deep to prevent the next pass, but those who are less experienced should be using contain, and only sliding in when it's a last ditch attempt.
For them - and for critics who raised similar concerns - the headline changes should come as little surprise. Shooting, in particular, felt under powered in (buy cheap Fifa coins) the shipping game in all but the most talented attackers, leading to all sorts of wayward shots in situations where it felt strange not to at least test goalkeepers. If youre able to make a short pass to the feet of your striker in the box, then try your best to have only one touch before taking the shot. This prevents the goalkeeper from being able to prepare for the strike. The touch should also take the ball and striker away from the defender, giving you the space to lash it into the corner of the net.
Goalkeepers will parry shots across goal, giving you an extra chance to follow-up and finish the rebound. When running towards goal with the ball, try and aim for the far corner. Its rare that the goalkeeper will catch the ball, as long as the shot is both accurate and powerful enough. Apart from accurate shots, FIFA 16 fans can also use finesse to curl the ball from around the corner. This shooting skill might need your players with extra agility. From the wing outside the box, you can cut inside a couple of defenders, and once you are running horizontally along the box area, press the Finesse shoot button and hold the shoot button for as long as half the power meter is filled, if your position is good enough, the shoot will hit the target and the least you will get is a corner.
